Eligibility

  • Georgia Tech degree-seeking, undergraduate students only.
  • At least 18 years of age upon arriving in Washington D.C.
  • Completed at least two full-time semesters of study at Georgia Tech before arriving in Washington D.C.
  • Good Academic Standing with a 3.0 (or higher) GPA at the time of application.
  • Able to be in Washington D.C. for the duration of the semester, INCLUDING through the final exam period.
  • In Good Standing with the Georgia Tech Office of Student Affairs and Housing at the time of application.
  • U.S. citizenship is not necessary; non-U.S. citizens are welcome to apply.
  • No background in INTA or SPP is necessary. We are looking for a broad range of Georgia Tech students.

Accommodations

Students will live in a housing facility in double-, triple-, or quadruple-occupancy furnished apartments. The cost will be roughly the same as Georgia Tech campus housing and will be included in the program.

Housing will be within walking distance of the U.S. Capitol and offer 24-hour/day assistance for lockouts and emergencies.

Extra-curricular Activities

Beyond internships, students will:

  • Attend curated cultural events, lectures, and international programs.
  • Network with Georgia Tech alumni in D.C.
  • Visit institutions such as the State Department, Pentagon, Supreme Court, and Capitol Hill.
  • Explore historic sites, museums, and embassies with guidance from INTA and SPP faculty.

Cost

  • Program fee: $5,890 (estimated). Covers housing and select social events.
  • Not included: Tuition, flights, meals, transportation, health insurance, and daily expenses.

A $500 non-refundable deposit is required upon acceptance. Refunds are only possible if Georgia Tech declines or revokes admission. Deposits are not transferable to other study abroad or Georgia Abroad (GAH) programs.

Note: Per USG policy, students entering Georgia Tech before August 2025 will pay in-state tuition regardless of residency. Students entering August 2025 or later will pay full out-of-state tuition if not Georgia residents.

Mentors

Each participant is paired with a Georgia Tech alum who shares similar career interests. Mentors provide guidance on navigating Washington, D.C., offer advice on career paths and academics, and support students during their internship experience.
